Chiefs' Carson Steele chooses the opportunity to play in the NFL “any day of the week” while family watches from his sister's wedding

Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Carson Steele had a standout performance Sunday night as the team worked to address injuries at the position.

Steele set a career-high with 72 rushing yards as he led the team in its 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He had 17 rushing attempts and averaged 4.2 yards per carry, with his longest run being a 9-yard run.

During the game, the NBC broadcast noted that Steele skipped his sister's wedding to play the game in Atlanta. The clip showed his sister's wedding reception with his family cheering him on.

Steele said after the game there was no place he would rather be.

“Man, I hate to say it…I'd be here any day of the week,” Steele said, smiling. “I love you, Kessler, I hope it went well. But I'll take this any day of the week.”

Steele and Samaje Perine shared the starting duties after Isiah Pacheco was ruled out for at least six weeks with a broken fibula sustained in last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Kansas City signed Steele as an undrafted free agent. He spent his college career between Ball State and UCLA, rushing for 3,294 yards and 26 touchdowns in 36 career games.

Perine rushed for 25 yards on six carries against the Falcons. The Chiefs signed him at the end of training camp. He was released by the Denver Broncos.
