DeShaun Foster: Mom on UCLA injury updates

UCLA looked to be outmatched in its Big Ten opener at home against Indiana. A 42-13 loss can leave a bitter taste in any coach's mouth, especially Foster.

“Indiana played a great game,” Foster said after the game. “They played well and executed well. Offensively, we weren't able to stay in front of the chains like we would have liked. Defensively, they played a pretty good first half, with the offense putting the defense in pretty bad situations. But it's a learning experience for both sides of the ball and we need to continue to improve.”

However, Foster kept a cool head despite the 1-1 start and the crushing defeat.

“About myself? I mean, I'm still calm,” Foster said. “It's not really about me learning, but everyone here can learn. But it's just a shame how this game went. The first half didn't go the way we wanted. But I didn't expect the second half to go like this.”

“I just want to make sure my guys are ready to go. We have a lot of players in there that look up to me and I'm going to continue to be myself and get these guys ready to play some ball.”
