Kim Richards was cut off from the family after being sent to the psychiatric hospital and arguing with sister Kyle

Addiction is a terrible disease that affects so many families. As we know, former child star Kim Richards has suffered for years trying to get well, often with her family by her side. Unfortunately, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was placed on psychiatric hold earlier this month (September 2024). Now the Richards family is practicing tough love and has reportedly shut her out completely. Here's what we know…

The Richards family cut off all contact with Kim after she was placed on psychiatric hold in early September

TMZ reports that Kim was acting incoherently at a Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles in early September while with her sister Kyle Richards. The police were called and asked Kim to leave, but she refused. At that time, Kim was admitted to a 5150 psychiatric hospital and taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Then on the night of September 25, Kyle attempted to remove Kim from an LA-area home that Kyle owns. Kyle had previously let Kim live in the house, but Kim had moved out some time ago.

When Kim resurfaced, Kyle told police officers that she didn't want her sister in the house. In the hope that she would hit rock bottom and sober up, the family has cut off all contact. They reportedly hope Kim will be motivated to help herself when she has nowhere else to go.

Unfortunately, officers explained to Kyle that they couldn't remove Kim from the house because it was a civil matter. Kyle has to file an eviction while Kim stays in her house.

Police officials told TMZ that when they entered the home, Kyle told them that Kim's addiction had gotten to the point where they were worried for her life.

RHOBH viewers first learned about Kim's drinking problems in the season 1 finale. Kyle and Kim got into a heated argument in the back seat of a limo. Kyle spilled the secret, shouting, “We're not talking about you being an alcoholic!” This came after Kim accused Kyle and her husband Mauricio of stealing their house.
