Netflix's best new series has a near-perfect 95% critic score

Netflix has been on a roll lately with its movie offerings, and now we have a great new TV show to add that's been garnering impressive reviews.

The show is called Nobody Wants This, which would be a funny title if the show bombed, but instead it does great, with a 95% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and an also solid 84% audience score.

The 10-part, 30-minute series features a stellar cast led by The Good Place's Kristen Bell and The OC's Adam Brody (unfortunately, I've always known him from The OC, even though that was 20 years ago). Also appearing are Timothy Simmons (Jonah!) from Veep and Justine Lupe (Willa!) from Succession. Great lineup.

The show was created by Erin Foster, an actress-turned-showrunner whose performance here appears to be a standout. The show is described as “semi-autobiographical.” Here is the official synopsis of the comedy:

Nobody Wants This centers on the unlikely relationship between an outspoken, agnostic woman, Joanne (Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell), and an unconventional rabbi, Noah (SAG nominee Adam Brody). From the moment they meet at a friend's dinner party, they both realize that something is off between them. But their different views on life, all the modern obstacles to love and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families – including her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons) – potentially separate them from one another.”

The series debuted at No. 2 on Netflix's Top 10 list, but it's unclear whether it will make it to No. 1 given the relative popularity of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story great Ryan Murphy's previous killer performance was “Dahmer.” turned out to be on duty. It was the third most watched English series of all time on Netflix, and if this sequel achieves even a fraction of that, it could be at the top for a while.

Nobody Wants This will be the exact opposite in terms of theme and tone, but you might find it a refreshing change did I just want the Menendez story. Or the Mr. McMahon documentary about the disgraced WWE owner. Or the very bad Ellen DeGeneres special. Really, it's the best show on the list right now, that much is clear. Time to take a look at it and see if it lives up to these values.
