NFL News Updates: Cowboys' woes continue, Justin Herbert's severe ankle sprain, Myles Garrett to undergo MRI

Five teams remain undefeated after the third Sunday of the NFL season – the 2-0 Bills play on Monday night – and the 3-0 teams all made their own impression on Sunday. The Chiefs, twice defending Super Bowls, won another thrilling game, this time against the Falcons. The Seahawks crushed the Dolphins, who were without Tua Tagovailoa – and lost backup quarterback Skylar Thompson to a pectoral injury. The Vikings swept the Texans with another brilliant performance from Sam Darnold, and the Steelers fell by the wayside behind a buzzsaw-like defense and a surging Justin Fields.

And what about the teams that didn't have such a great Sunday? Let's dive into the news and stories from Week 3.

Sure, they may be the most scrutinized team in the NFL, but when you're allowing 274 yards of rushing at home, the problems aren't just because the owner is a media magnet. Dallas' 28-25 loss — which wasn't as close as the final score suggested — exposed issues on defense that first came to light in a 44-19 Week 2 loss to the Saints. After the game, when asked about the roster, Jerry Jones said, “I like our personnel,” but for a team that's allowing a league-high 185.7 yards per game, something has to change.

He was first injured in Week 2, but re-injured his ankle in the Chargers' 20-10 loss to the Steelers. He was seen leaving the stadium in Pittsburgh wearing a walking boot. Taylor Heinicke finished the game for LA, who host the Chiefs in Week 4.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has missed a number of practices recently after re-aggravating a foot injury. He will now undergo an MRI on his foot after being briefly sidelined in the Browns' 21-15 loss to the Giants. Garrett has recorded two sacks in Cleveland's three games this season.

Pittsburgh is 3-0 and is allowing NFL-best 229.7 yards per game and 8.6 points per game. The defense is a wall of silence, as evidenced by five sacks in a recent win over the Chargers. The Steelers' quarterbacks are making headlines, however, after both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields came to Pittsburgh for a fresh start. Fields has been consistent throughout the three wins, with just one interception and completing more than 73% of his passes. But is that enough to keep the job as Wilson recovers from a calf injury that knocked him out of the starting lineup before Week 1?
