Ohio State vs. Marshall game today: channel, time, streaming information

play

After a week off, Ohio State's football team has one last warm-up before it really gets into Big Ten play.

Ryan Day, Will Howard and the Buckeyes will face the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Big Noon showdown while Ohio State looks to improve its season record to 3-0 following its off week.

The Buckeyes have performed as advertised in their first two games, outscoring Akron and Western Michigan by a combined score of 108-6. The third-best team in the country will look to continue that dominant success ahead of a game against Michigan State in East Lansing next week.

Marshall dominated Stony Brook in similar fashion in Week 1 before losing to Virginia Tech in Week 2, and is also coming off a break from playing. Stone Earle struggled mightily against the Hokies, completing 13 of 36 passes for 131 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Ohio State's vaunted secondary, led by Caleb Downs, will look to create similar confusion. That will start by hampering the running game, which Ohio State has done second best in the country, only better than Ole Miss.

Ohio State vs. Marshall – Predictions, Tips, Odds

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Saturday, September 21.

Ohio State 52, Marshall 7: Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch says, “The Thundering Herd have shown some explosiveness in the running game, but a quarterback with a 44% completion rate doesn't bode well against the Buckeyes' stifling defense. Consider this the third straight warm-up before Big Ten play begins next week.”

Ohio State 48, Marshall 0: Joey Kaufman of The Columbus Dispatch says, “The most intriguing question is whether the Buckeyes can knock off a second straight opponent. They last did that in 2009, when they held Toledo and Illinois scoreless for two weeks in a row. That's a real possibility, given Marshall's offense, which ranks at the bottom of the Football Bowl Subdivision by most modern metrics. They rank 94th in expected points per game (EPA).”

Ohio State 56, Marshall 7: Rob Oller of The Columbus Dispatch says, “Now that Ohio State has gotten the hang of starting fast — heads are still spinning in Western Michigan — I expect the Buckeyes to go from 0 to 60 mph in a flash every week, or at least until the game against Oregon on Oct. 12.”

  • OPPORTUNITIES: Ohio State (-39.5)
  • Over/Under: 53.5
