The same name game is now the name change game.

The Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars will meet again in the first of two games on “Monday Night Football” in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season. What was once a clash in which a certain Josh Allen tried to sack another Josh Allen is now a clash between Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen after Hines-Allen announced he would change his name this offseason as a tribute to family.

It is also a match between an AFC contender who looks like he could make the shortlist for two weeks and one who doesn't.

Jacksonville is off to an 0-2 start after losses to the Dolphins and Browns, and the offense, still sputtering in Trevor Lawrence's fourth season, appears to be the main culprit. The Jaguars need more from Lawrence, explosive rookie Brian Thomas Jr., former Bills receiver Gabe Davis and running back Travis Etienne if they want to return to the playoffs and compete with the Houston Texans in the AFC South.

Buffalo looked poised to win another AFC East title in its final game – a 31-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins that was already shaping up to be a blowout before Tua Tagovailova left the field with another concussion. Allen was required to efficiently complete just 13 of 19 passes for 139 yards and running back James Cook scored three touchdowns.
