Tips and odds for the 3rd week of the NFL

Matt Ehalt, sports betting editor/producer and digital sports editor, is in his first season with Bettor's Guide.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-6.5) vs. Denver Broncos

Listen, we know. The big favorites have beaten us.

But this week it seems like a piece of cake.

The Broncos' offense has been a disaster this season under rookie Bo Nix.

Denver scored 20 points in its opening game away from home against the Seahawks, but four of the points came from two safeties and two field goals after turnovers.

Another seven came in garbage time.

They scored six points against the Steelers at home last week.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are in top form.

Chris Godwin looks revitalised and they are fresh from a great surprise win away against the Lions.

The Buccaneers scored 37 points at home against the Commanders in Week 1 and held two offensively stronger teams, the Commanders and the Lions, to 20 and 16 points respectively.

We can safely bet 6.5 points on Tampa Bay beating a bad Denver team by a touchdown.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-1) vs. Chicago Bears

Let’s follow the big favorite with a small home favorite.

The Colts should never have lost to the Malik Willis-led Packers, but the Bears, who rank 28th in rushing yards per game, won't be able to overrun them the way Green Bay did.

The Bears are also currently having problems with their offensive line and it seems that Caleb Williams is having initial problems.

Betting on the NFL?

Without Will Levis from Tennessee, the Bears would easily be 0-2.

The hope here is that Shane Steichen learns from his experience with Jonathan Taylor's substitution in the fourth quarter last time.

Bet on the current 0-2 team to be desperate at home against a team with offensive line issues and an inconsistent quarterback.

Last week: 0:2. Ravens (N), Jaguars (N)
Season 2024: 0-4.
