West Ham United 0-3 Chelsea, Premier League: Reactions and ratings after the match

Chelsea started the game absolutely brilliantly, with confident passing, excellent movement and two fantastic finishes from Nicolas Jackson within 18 minutes, with Cole Palmer also narrowly missing a goal in between.

But West Ham eventually woke up and started playing and made things a little more uncomfortable for us. Robert Sánchez had to intervene a couple of times, while Mohammed Kudus rightly had a goal disallowed for a clear offside and Wesley Fofana got away with a slight foul on Crysencio Summerville that on another day would have been awarded a penalty.

Chelsea also started the second half brilliantly and Cole Palmer increased the lead to 3-0 after just a few minutes, which calmed my nerves somewhat.

West Ham tried to respond, but the defense held firm and Sánchez made a few more saves when necessary.

Chelsea could have scored a few more goals to make the result even more positive – Félix and Nkunku came very close – but we would settle for third place.

Carefree.

  • Jadon Sancho makes first start at Chelsea, Maresca makes several changes compared to last weekend
  • Fofana is the latest to try and take over the right-back position with both James and Gusto injured… is Chilwell available? Surely he could do the job, right?
  • Assists from Sancho, Caicedo and Jackson
  • Clean slate!
  • Next up: Third round of the League Cup at home against lower league Barrow AFC
