Wilson Odobert out with thigh injury, Yves Bissouma hopes to return

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou says Wilson Odobert will be out for a while after sustaining a thigh injury in Wednesday's win over Coventry City.

Postecoglou could not give a timeframe for Odobert's return, but said the injury “does not look good” and he will be out “for the next period”.

Yves Bissouma, meanwhile, will be hoping to return to action on Saturday for the match against Brentford after missing his side's last two games with a groin problem. The midfielder trained on Friday, his first full session since his injury layoff.

Timo Werner was also substituted against Coventry. He was taken off in the 74th minute after falling to the ground in apparent discomfort, but Postecoglou said the winger is now fine.

“Wilson doesn't look good. We are still waiting for the situation to calm down and for more information to arrive, but he will definitely be out for the next period,” said Postecoglou.

“Bissouma trained today, so he should be available tomorrow. Timo is okay.”

Odobert had to leave the field after just 18 minutes of Tottenham's Carabao Cup win during the week. The Spurs head coach initially described the injury as “quite serious”.

The 19-year-old winger joined Spurs from Burnley this summer for an initial fee of £25 million plus £5 million in potential add-ons. Wednesday's appearance against Coventry was only his fourth for the club since his summer move.

Striker Richarlison also remains out after picking up an injury ahead of the trip to Newcastle United earlier this month, and Postecoglou said the Brazil international is not close to a return.

“He's still a long way from that,” explained Postecoglou. “He hasn't trained with the first team yet.”
